Ann Long Fine Art will exhibit new work by Louise Fenne (Danish, b. 1972) and Paula Rubino (American, b. 1968) at Doyle Auction House, Charleston this April 22 – 26 (22 – 24 by appointment).
Both Fenne & Rubino are classically trained; Fenne at The Ny Carlsberg Glypotek, Copenhagen, The Florence Academy of Art, Italy, and with American painter Charles Weed in Lucca, Italy and Rubino also at The Florence Academy of Art and with Richard Serrin in Italy and Odd Nerdrum in Norway.
Though they have similar education, both Fenne and Rubino have developed styles distinctive from their teachers, one another and their contemporaries.
For several years, from her studio on the water in Svendborg, Denmark, Louise Fenne has painted from life portraits of women with birds and continues to invent new compositions from a seemingly simple premise.
From her studios in Stuart, Florida and Finland, Paula Rubino “continues arranging color and pattern, at times painted from life, at times, delving into the abstract.”
Both artists will be in attendance at a reception on Wednesday April 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 in the evening.
