Elizabeth Leary is a Classical Realist painter whose work places great emphasis on precise drawing over which color is layered in sublime monochromatic washes. This austerity and clarity of vision lend an aura of poetry to her still lifes and architectural painting.
An honors graduate in fine art from Skidmore College, she began her artistic career with Walter Gropius working at The Architects Collaborative in Cambridge, Massachusetts as well as doing illustrations at the Harvard College Observatory.
Since 1965 she has had over thirty one-person shows and was chosen for the prestigious Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Show in New York, and the Artists of America Exhibition in Denver.
Leary is an award-winning artist and has been featured in numerous publications including Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector and Artist Magazine. Her paintings hang in esteemed collections, both private and public, in the United States and Europe. She lives and has a studio on her farm in Byfield, Massachusetts
