Following the great tradition of Australian landscape painting of the late nineteenth century, Sealy’s plein air, impressionistic paintings capture the subtle nuances of light and color present in the landscape before him. His masterful paint strokes imbue his paintings with a sense of quiet calm. He enjoys painting in Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and America and in his home country of Australia where the Australian bush is a major source of inspiration.
Sealy has had six solo exhibitions in London adding to his sixteen solo shows in Australia. He has also exhibited in group shows in the United States, Europe, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
“My work is a direct influence of the impressionist style of painting with a direct hand eye co-ordination in front of the subject trying to capture the subtleties of mood, light and atmosphere, always trying to avoid any formulation, sentimentality and cliché, giving the individual viewer a unique visual experience every time”.
